London lands new air ambulance service - SkyCare Repatriation

Earlier this year, we were proud to announce the arrival of our first dedicated air ambulance to be based here at London Biggin Hill Airport.

Operated by SkyCare Repatriation, a leader in medical repatriation services across Europe and beyond, the advanced Pilatus PC-12 NGX air ambulance will provide critical care transport, connecting patients with the care they need wherever they are.

In addition to the air ambulance, SkyCare Repatriation also operates ground ambulances based at London Biggin Hill Airport, providing seamless medical transportation solutions on the ground to complement its air services.

To mark its arrival, the aircraft received a water salute from our Rescue and Firefighting Service - a long-standing tradition in aviation to celebrate the arrival of a new aircraft. We’re excited to see this aircraft in action, supporting vital missions and providing life-saving services.

In the Winter edition of Business Aviation Magazine, our CEO David Winstanley discusses the importance of working closely with local communities.

By maintaining a thriving Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul (MRO) ecosystem, we support not only the aviation industry but our Bromley community through job creation, economic development and educational initiatives.

Bombardier announces new paint facility at London Biggin Hill Airport

We’re delighted to share that Bombardier is further investing in its base at London Biggin Hill Airport, adding a paint facility to its service and support capabilities.

This latest development follows the expansion of Bombardier’s London Biggin Hill Service Centre to 250,000 sq. ft. in 2022, and the opening of a material lounge in 2024, providing customers with access to the most comprehensive portfolio of interior materials at any of Bombardier’s international service centres.

Set to open in the second half of 2026, the two-bay paint facility at London Biggin Hill Airport will support Global, Challenger and Learjet aircraft, and is expected to employ more than 50 skilled paint technicians.

Bombardier Global 7500 achieves 100th World Speed Record

Congratulations to Bombardier on yet another incredible milestone! The Global 7500 has set its 100th world speed record, reinforcing its place as the fastest and most capable aircraft in the ultra-long-range segment.

The record-setting mission departed from Bombardier’s Authorized Service Facility ACI Jet in San Luis Obispo, California, and landed at London Biggin Hill Airport on 28th February. The journey took 9h17, with a remarkable average speed of nearly 1,000 km/h.

From London to Riyadh, Tokyo to San Francisco, and beyond, this superlative aircraft continues to redefine performance and efficiency in business aviation. As the home of Bombardier’s London Biggin Hill Service Centre, we celebrate this achievement and look forward to what’s next!

London Biggin Hill Airport supports local Youth Awards

We were honoured to support the Bromley Rotary Club’s Youth Awards recently. Established in 2015, the Youth Awards recognise the outstanding contributions of young people who each, in their own way, make a significant difference to their community.

This year, 38 pupils from 22 secondary schools in Bromley were selected to receive an award. To celebrate their achievements, each award was presented by the Mayor of Bromley, Councillor Dr David Barrington Jefferys, at a ceremony attended by representatives of local and district Rotary Clubs, local MPs and supporting organisations.

At London Biggin Hill, we believe in supporting the next generation, fostering opportunity, and making a positive impact. We were humbled and inspired by the stories of the award winners - congratulations to them all!

Students reach for the skies on our latest Futures Week

We were delighted to welcome our next group of Futures Week participants to the airport recently. Our bi-annual event gives young people the opportunity to explore the many different roles available within the aviation industry.

Our group of enthusiastic participants visited resident businesses, received inspirational talks from industry professionals and participated in sessions with colleagues from across the airport.

We'd like to thank everyone involved for supporting and helping us to inspire the next generation of aviation professionals. Our team looks forward to following the progress of this brilliant cohort and hopes Futures Week has helped inform their choices as they take their next steps.

Celebrating 'Eliana Wants to Fly' for World Book Day

We’re proud to shine the spotlight on Eliana Wants to Fly - a recently published children’s book written by Maya Komolafe, one of our Futures Week alumni.

Inspired by a passion for aviation, this uplifting story follows Eliana as she dreams of taking to the skies, proving that no ambition is out of reach. It’s a must-read for young minds eager to explore the range of opportunities in the world of aerospace!

Congratulations to Maya on this fantastic achievement and for helping inspire the next generation of aviation professionals.
