Celebrating 100 years of Scouting in Biggin Hill
|
We're proud to sponsor a beautiful new mosaic for the 1st Biggin Hill Scouts Group, marking an incredible 100 years of scouting in our local community! Unveiled this Spring in a fantastic ceremony full of pride and celebration, the mosaic is a lasting tribute to generations of The Scouts and the impact its many volunteers have had on the lives of thousands of young people. This project was supported through our Community Fund, which also helped bring the group’s activity day to life with a ‘colour run’ last September. It’s a privilege to support local projects like this, and to play a small part in celebrating the people and groups that make our community so special.

In May, we were proud to support the Teddy Bears’ Picnic at the Spitfire Centre in Biggin Hill.
It was a glorious day for the free family event, organised by Biggin Hill Residents Association, with lunch, entertainment, face-painting and lots of fun activities in the sunshine!
Our mascot, Captain Merlin, was delighted to attend and thoroughly enjoyed engaging with everyone - handing out goodies and posing for photos!

Our Rescue & Firefighting Service wins 'Aviation RFFS Champions' award!
|
Congratulations to our Rescue and Firefighting Service (RFFS), who have been awarded the first ‘Aviation RFFS Champions, Contaminants and Decontamination’ award! Presented by The Invisible Risk Foundation, the awards recognise the outstanding contributions of the fire and emergency services to reducing contaminant risks and their impact on responder health.
London Biggin Hill Airport’s RFFS have become industry pioneers in this field, working hard to trial and implement innovative new technologies, changing their Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and undergoing significant training in new decontamination procedures. As a result, they have showcased the new processes to several other teams, including a number of Airport Fire Services across the UK, the Air Accident Investigation Branch and ARFFS in Perth, Western Australia.
Join us in congratulating our RFFS on this award and for their continued hard work, dedication and passion to ensuring that safety is our top priority at London Biggin Hill Airport.

On 8 May 1945, Prime Minister Winston Churchill made an announcement that the war in Europe had come to an end, following Germany's surrender the day before.
This year marks the 80th anniversary of VE Day; a time for celebration, but also a time to remember all those who fought for the liberation of Europe and made the ultimate sacrifice.

We were delighted to support our local celebrations, including a party on the Green in Westerham and events at the RAF Biggin Hill Museum & Chapel, honouring the bravery and sacrifice of those who served. Our colleagues hosted a celebration with a sweet tribute too - cupcakes and camaraderie!
RAF Biggin Hill played a significant role during the Battle of Britain, strategically located between London and continental Europe and described by Churchill as his ‘strongest link’. We’re incredibly proud of this legacy and, today, The Strongest Link Garden stands abeam the main approach of our runway and serves as an evocative and reflective tribute to all those who sacrificed so much.

Sponsorship for local athlete and Olympic hopeful, Jack Kavanagh
|
We’re delighted to announce our support for local runner and Olympic hopeful, Jack Kavanagh. Jack, a part-time teacher and UK Elite middle-distance runner from Hurst Green, discovered his extraordinary talent during the Covid-19 lockdown.
In just three years, he advanced from being a strong club runner to representing England at the Home Nations 5km Road Championships in August 2024. In February 2025, he finished as the top British & top European athlete, with a time of 13 minutes 35 seconds, and 2 weeks later ran another personal best in 13 minutes 33 seconds.
Our support will help Jack as he embarks on an intense training plan aimed at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. Led by his coach, Neil Danby, an ex-Olympian and ex-Olympic Assistant Coach, the four-year plan will see Jack, 24, through a blistering transformation from casual runner to Olympic hopeful.
At London Biggin Hill, we’re committed to ensuring that when the airport succeeds, so do local people. Jack’s dedication, ambition, and drive perfectly reflect the spirit of our community, and we’re excited to be a small part of his journey.

Fantastic season for Bromley FC Women's Team
|
As the final whistle blows on an unforgettable season, we’re incredibly proud to congratulate Bromley FC Women’s team on their last game of the season - and what a way to finish!
A 4-1 win over Brentford, in front of 278 fans last month, meant Bromley Women ended 2024/25 unbeaten in the league at home, the CopperJax Community Stadium. This phenomenal achievement is a real testament to the hard work, passion, and dedication of everyone at the club. As title sponsors, we’ve seen first-hand how the club brings people together and opens doors for local talent - creating equal opportunities and inspiring the next generation.
Congratulations to the players, staff, volunteers, and every supporter who’s made this season so special. Here’s to continuing the journey together; building on our shared purpose and values, both on the pitch and in the world of aerospace and engineering.

Enhancing Biodiversity: Bees introduced at London Biggin Hill Airport
|
|
|
We’re ‘buzzing’ with excitement to share that we’ve welcomed bees to our airport! London Biggin Hill Airport is nestled in the greenest part of Bromley, making it an ideal location to support biodiversity. We currently have one active beehive, home to around 30,000 bees, with plans to establish more in the future.
Bees play a vital role in pollinating plants and maintaining healthy ecosystems. By creating a suitable habitat for them at the airport, we’re not only supporting declining pollinator populations but also helping to enrich local flora.
We’re proud to be working with the Orpington Beekeepers Association on this project, with special thanks to local beekeeper Peter, who is guiding us through the process of establishing our first apiary and helping us ensure the health and wellbeing of our growing bee colonies. We look forward to sharing more ‘bee-hind’ the scenes insights as the project develops!
