London Biggin Hill Airport becomes title sponsor of Bromley FC's Women's Team
We're delighted to kick off the 2024/25 football season by announcing our support as the title sponsor of Bromley Football Club's Women's Team.
The collaboration is the next step in our ongoing commitment to promote gender diversity and champion increasing female accessibility, to both football and aviation, within the London Borough of Bromley.
As title sponsor, the airport is providing significant financial backing over the 2024/25 season, including sponsorship of the women's team kit and support for wider initiatives to enhance the visibility and aspirations of female athletes in the borough.
Our Chief Executive Officer, David Winstanley, said: "We have a well-established and purposeful relationship with Bromley Football Club. Having initially partnered to support the Bromley FC Community Sports Trust Women & Girls' Provision in 2023, we are excited to build on our association to help the growth of the women's game in Bromley."

Students soar on Work Experience Week
We recently hosted a group of students for our annual work experience week, which is aimed at inspiring local young people by showcasing the diverse career opportunities here at London Biggin Hill Airport.
The students visited several departments to gain hands-on experience in different fields of aviation - including Customer Service, Ground Operations, Rescue & Firefighting and Air Traffic Control.
We are passionate about supporting the next generation of aviation professionals by providing them with the tools to unlock their potential. Our work experience opportunity runs during a dedicated week every year, in addition to our two 'Futures Weeks' and other initiatives.

Applications open for Futures Week

Earlier this month, applications for our bi-annual Futures Week officially opened, as the airport works to inspire local young people to pursue careers in aviation.
Following the success of February’s programme, Futures Week will return from 28th October - 1st November, providing a group of 15 to 18-year-olds with the opportunity to learn about the various career paths available at the airport and across the wider industry.
Applications, which must be completed by the individual interested in participating, can be made via our website. Applications close at 10pm on Monday 23rd September. Successful applicants will be invited to attend an interview at the airport.

Heritage Hangar returns sixteenth Spitfire to the skies!
Congratulations to Biggin Hill Heritage Hangar who recently returned their sixteenth Spitfire to the air! MK912 took its maiden post-restoration flight from London Biggin Hill last month; almost nine years to the day since its last flight on 1st August 2015.
The aircraft proudly carries the markings of 312 Squadron (Czech) which it wore on D-Day, flown by P/O Miroslav ‘Tony’ Liskutin DFC. He was believed to be the first allied fighter pilot to land in France on 6th June 1944.
Biggin Hill Heritage Hangar is home to the largest gathering of Spitfires in the world and is at the forefront of heritage restoration.

Bombardier's Service Centre goes solar!
In July, we celebrated the installation of over 3,000 PV solar panels on the roof of Bombardier's service centre, here at London Biggin Hill Airport.
This significant investment will provide up to 32% of the service centre's total energy demand from an on-site renewable source, lowering annual carbon emissions by up to 252 tonnes.
We are proud to have Bombardier as part of our ecosystem of aerospace businesses here at the airport, as we strive collectively to reach our sustainability goals, making a positive impact on the industry for the benefit of all.

Colin Bell DFC's flying visit to London Biggin Hill
Earlier this month, we were honoured to welcome World War Two veteran Colin Bell DFC AE FRICS to the airport, as he travelled to Caen to visit the Normandy Memorial.
Before his flight, the former Mosquito Bomber Pilot, who is 103, enjoyed a tour of the Biggin Hill Heritage Hangar with Randolph Churchill, great grandson of Sir Winston Churchill. The hangar is home to the largest gathering of Spitfires in the world and is at the forefront of heritage restoration.
We’re so pleased our guests enjoyed their visit to London Biggin Hill; our team were delighted to play a small part in sending them off on their mission to Normandy.
