Health in the Park Hounslow

The Hounslow Borough Based Partnership (BBP) is hosting a free, fun, and interactive health and wellbeing event for all at Lampton Park on Saturday 15 June 2024 at 11am - 3pm.

Health in the Park has been organised in collaboration with Hounslow Council, local NHS Services, and voluntary and community partners. More than 30 groups are collaborating to deliver this free event either by hosting a stall or delivering a healthy activity. The Healthy Hounslow Team will be in attendance giving advice on a range of health issues and providing free health MOT’s.

All activities have been designed by health and community partners to offer something fun for all ages, including yoga and Tai Chi sessions, live cooking demonstrations, tennis taster sessions and more. A range of health professionals will also be available on the day to provide helpful advice and guidance on how we can all support long-term health. There will also be leads from support groups highlighting the easy ways to access their services in the borough.

Anne Stratton, Hounslow Borough Based Partnership Director and Chief Operating Officer, Hounslow and Richmond Community Healthcare Trust, said:

“Last year more than 2000 people attended Health in the Park, and we hope more will attend this year to enjoy a range of free health activities designed to help residents lead healthier lifestyles."

Latest on Mount Vernon Cancer Centre Strategic Review

Following news last year that proposals to relocate Mount Vernon Cancer Centre had not been selected to join the New Hospitals Programme, work has continued to discuss possible ways to meet the urgent need to re-provide MVCC services on an acute hospital site.

NHS England’s Chief Finance Officer has provided a commitment in writing to work jointly with commissioning teams to identify the necessary local and national money for the scheme which has been confirmed as a regional priority. The scheme will still require capital funding to be made available before building could begin.

At this week’s national Strategy, Planning and Investment Committee, it was agreed that public consultation could go ahead on proposals to relocate MVCC. This is subject to the normal NHS England assurance processes for schemes requiring public consultation.

Consultation on the future of acute mental health services for adult residents of the City of Westminster and the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea

NHS NW London, the local Integrated Care Board (the ICB) has published the evaluation report for this consultation. The consultation period was between 24 October 2023 and 16 February 2024. The original plan was for a 14-week consultation period. The consultation was subsequently extended to 16 weeks. A copy of the report, as prepared by our independent advisors Verve Communications, is available here. The report summarises the responses received to the consultation; it is not the ICB’s response to the consultation.

The evaluation report has found that significant efforts were made to promote participation in the consultation by the ICB, Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust (CNWL) and both local authorities. In light of feedback received, more outreach and engagement opportunities were added and the consultation period extended. As a result, there was a high level of participation overall.13 organisational responses were received and 770 individuals participated in meetings. A further 200 people completed the questionnaire. A great many very detailed responses were received.
Measles cases are on the rise: get your child vaccinated at a local clinic

Measles cases are on the rise in London, including North Kensington.

It is really important that your child is vaccinated against measles, which is a highly infectious childhood illness. Children and young adults need two doses of the MMR vaccination for protection against measles.

If you are unsure whether your child has been vaccinated, please don’t hesitate to ask your GP. Vaccine appointments can be booked through your GP or using one of our walk-in clinics.
