Spotlight: celebrating 30 years of working in the NHS
"Sarjit Uppal (Contract Manager in the Contracts Team) celebrated 30 years of working within the NHS in July. It's an amazing milestone, nine years of which have been spent working in contracts. She’s incredibly helpful and is always willing to help out and share any experiences that she feels will benefit the team. She is truly an asset, so it is only right that she be recognised for all that she does" - Sharon Afful (Contracts Team)

Congratulations Sarjit on your 30 years in the NHS, and thank you to Sharon for making us aware of this on Spotlight.

If you haven't done so already, Spotlight is your opportunity to thank someone that has done something that made a difference to you or your role - whether that was helping deliver a project or service, being innovative to get a task done, or a simple act of kindness that helped to improve your day.

It's easy to spotlight a colleague for their work, and you can do so at any time.

Were you born between 1997 and 2006? We want to hear from you!
NHS NW London is continuing its action to build a fairer and more inclusive organisational culture where all staff feel welcome, able to be themselves and can release their potential.

We are keen to engage with our youngest staff cohort to hear and learn about your views on inclusion and better understand your needs around organisational culture and professional development.

If you were born between 1997 and 2006, you are invited to join a workshop on Thursday 26 September 2024 from 10am - 12pm.

We want you to decide if the workshop should be in person at our Marylebone Road site, or virtually on Microsoft Teams. Please send an email to nhsnwl.equality@nhs.net telling us if you would prefer an in person workshop (with refreshments) or via Teams.
New controls to help further secure your nhs.net data

The entry, led by Dr Patrik Bachtiger (acute internal medicine physician at Imperial NHS), has been selected for the prestigious Modernising Diagnostics category due to the impact of the new North West London Straight-to-Test AcuPebble plan for Obstructive Sleep Apnoea diagnosis.

Reminder: please complete the Menti survey on workforce development
At our latest staff briefing on 12 August 2024, we asked staff about their priorities around workforce development.

There were a some technical issues on the day, so if you were not able to complete the survey, please take a few moments to do so by scanning the QR code below.

Website survey
We are always looking to improve the NHS NW London website.

We want staff and residents to tell us about the things we are doing well, but just as importantly tell us about any changes we should consider making.

Please take a couple of minutes to complete this survey. The closing date is Wednesday 11 September 2024.
Keeping Well: an introduction to mindfulness
Join Peter Helmer, NHS mindfulness practitioner with the Keeping Well service, for an introduction to mindfulness.

There are two 1 hour sessions taking place on Wednesday 11 and 18 September 2024 from 5 - 6pm. The group will be held online on Microsoft Teams.

Being mindful is about the ability to pause, breathe and pay attention to the moment, and there is encouraging evidence that it can be helpful in reducing stress and anxiety.

If you would like to join, please complete a self-referral form and tick the access mindfulness sessions option.

You can find further information about mindfulness here.
