North Kensington Recovery: Future services and support

In January and February, the NHS engaged with survivors, the bereaved, and local residents through various means, including community meetings, focus groups with community organisations, and a survey.

We would like to thank all those who engaged with us, particularly as there have been a number of other community meetings in recent months.

This feedback has been used to develop proposals for future health services and support for people affected by the Grenfell Tower fire, which are currently being considered by NHS North West London (the Integrated Care Board) which is the organisation responsible for allocating funding to local services.

We will be summarising the feedback and outlining the next steps in developing future services, including further opportunities for community members to be involved. This information will be made available on our website.

We also want to reiterate that NHS services for those affected by the fire remain open as usual. Please see the following sections of this newsletter, or the health and services section of our website for ways to get in touch with services.

Grenfell Tower announcement

Following the recent Government announcement on the future of Grenfell Tower, we understand that this news may evoke a range of emotions and opinions within the community. We want to acknowledge the diverse perspectives and feelings surrounding this decision.

The priority of the NHS remains the health and well-being of those affected by the Grenfell Tower fire. We want to remind you that our services are here to support you during this time.

Whether you need advice, emotional support, or health services, please do not hesitate to reach out. You can contact your GP practice for initial help and advice, and a range of other health services, including the Grenfell Health and Wellbeing Service, are available to support you.

Local residents encouraged to get their free Enhanced Health Check

Local residents whose health has been affected by the Grenfell Tower Fire are being reminded of the availability of a NHS Enhanced Health Check, designed to help detect health conditions early and support overall wellbeing.

The Enhanced Health Check offers a thorough assessment of your health, including blood pressure, cholesterol, and diabetes risk, as well as an opportunity for you to get advice on how to improve your health. These checks can be carried out at your own GP practice or at a convenient community venue.

Enhanced health checks are one of the best ways to catch potential issues early and stay in control of your health. The Enhanced Health Check is quick, free, and could make a real difference to your wellbeing.

Monitoring health and wellbeing in North Kensington

NHS partners and the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea continue to monitor the health of North Kensington residents following the Grenfell tragedy. Key activities include tracking air and soil quality and analysing health data to identify emerging issues, such as an increase in mental health prescriptions. This ongoing monitoring is essential for responding effectively to the community's needs and aligns with broader health assessments.

Our commitment to transparency: What we spend NHS funding on in North Kensington?

We are dedicated to being open and transparent about our expenditure and have published what has been spent with additional NHS funding that was allocated following the Grenfell Tower fire.

Our commitment to transparency: outcome reports

We regularly publish outcome reports to share insights on how our services are performing and the impact they have on the community. These reports help us track progress, identify areas for improvement, and ensure we continue to meet the needs of local residents.
