Changes to vaccination schedules

Significant changes to the routine childhood vaccination schedule and to the selective hepatitis B (HepB) programme will be occurring from 1 July 2025 and 1 January 2026, including the introduction of a new routine vaccination appointment at 18 months of age. These changes are required as a result of the discontinuation of the manufacture of Menitorix (Hib/MenC) vaccine. This has prompted the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI) to recommend and advise on a number of other changes to the national childhood immunisation schedule to optimise the overall protection of children in the UK.
Hep B 3rd dose vaccinations Q1 2025/26 – manual claim adjustment required

Due to changes to the selective neonatal Hep B programme, the payment indicator within Calculating Quality Reporting Service (CQRS) for the completing 3rd monovalent hep B dose (given at 12 months), under payment indicator HEP003, has been retired. Please note that this is because the 3rd monovalent hep B dose given to babies on the selective pathway will stop completely from 1 July 2025. This is a result of broader changes to the routine children's immunisations schedule and the introduction of a new 6 in 1 appointment at 18-month-old from 1 January 2026.

In London last year, a hep B domiciliary vaccination service began with a remit to vaccinate babies on the selective hep B pathway at home. Many GP Practices in London opted into this service, allowing it to provide the four-week monovalent hep B vaccine, the 12-month monovalent hep B vaccine (stopping on 1 July 2025) and hep B testing all at home.

Please note that any GP Practices who did not opt into the hep B home service and who continue to provide the 12 month hep B dose, will be required to submit a manual claim for all completing 3rd doses of monovalent Hep B vaccination events given each month in the 1st Quarter of 2025/26.

Please raise a claim with the London Immunisations Team who will process a manual adjustment in CQRS. The team will add the number of completing 3rd dose vaccination events to the existing indicator in CQRS before the payment is approved. Please do not declare claims within the CQRS system until any missed doses have been manually added by the team.

We expect these manual adjustment numbers to be small.

Babies, Children and Young People Bulletin - updated link

The latest bulletin has been published. It contains information on a new home service for babies on the hep B pathway, childhood immunisations payments, as well as the latest data. You can also find the accompanying Evaluation of the Early Years GP Child Health Hubs Pilots for the NHS North West London Integrated Care Board report.
Cervical screening update

GP practices can find the new North West London Cervical Screening Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) on our website.

The document aims to standardise the delivery of the national screening programme by outlining the responsibilities of sample takers in the NHS Cervical Screening Programme (NHSCSP), promoting good practice consistent with national policy, detailing training requirements, and setting out roles and responsibilities of general practices.
Windows 10 Operating System – end of life reminder

Windows 10 will be end of life (eol) on 14 October 2025. Subsequently support, including security updates, will no longer be available after this date.

This presents a security risk to your data and systems, so the upgrade is mandatory.

NHS North West London IT are currently planning to upgrade all primary care devices using several different methodologies with laptop upgrades beginning by end of May.

Compatible laptops will receive a configuration change that allows them to download and subsequently upgrade their devices in their own time.

Further information will follow describing this process and the differences you may find in Windows 11. Laptops with incompatible hardware will be replaced.

We plan to initially integrate the upgrade of desktops to Windows 11 with the 365-migration project. Further details will follow regarding the scheduling of the 365 / Windows 11 upgrades.

365 / Windows 11 upgrades

It’s possible however that not all applications or hardware (medical devices) will be fully compatible with Windows 11. ICT have tested core applications, but practices will need to review their 3rd party applications and solutions with their service providers and make suitable arrangements.

If you have any questions about Windows 11 in general or compatibility, please email the Client Systems Team.
