Welcoming Anita Charlesworth, Acting Chair for NHS North West London

We are pleased to share a short introductory video from Anita Charlesworth, the new Acting Chair for NHS North West London. In this video, Anita talks about her background, career journey, personal interests and shares her vision for the ICB, centred around our core purpose: transforming lives for the people in north west London.

Changes to ICBs

This week, NHS England shared a new operating model for ICBs. This follows an announcement earlier this year that all parts of the NHS, including providers and national bodies, need to reduce non-frontline spending. The operating model supports the new direction for ICBs as a strategic commissioner.

The functions the model describes as being required are:

  • Understanding local context: assessing the needs of the population and services available.
  • Developing population health strategy: long term population health planning and strategy development.
  • Delivering the strategy: including oversight and assurance of what is purchased and whether it delivers.
  • Evaluating impact: day to day oversight of how people are using our services and monitoring how well services are doing to understand return on investment and population feedback.
  • Governance and core statutory functions: ensuring the ICB is compliant, accountable and safe.
We will now work out what this means for NHS North West London. The aim is to complete the change process by the end of this calendar year. We will continue to keep partners updated on our progress and what this means for our local relationships.
Pharmacy openings over bank holiday periods and order repeat prescriptions

Bank holidays can affect the opening hours of local pharmacies. Find out more about arrangements over the late May bank holiday weekend.

Remember to order your repeat prescriptions well ahead of the holiday period as GP surgeries will be busier than usual.
New model of mental health care approved for Westminster and Kensington & Chelsea

NHS North West London, the local integrated care board (ICB) has approved a new, modern model of care for adults needing acute mental health support in Westminster and Kensington & Chelsea. This marks a major step forward in delivering high-quality, community-based care and ensuring services are more accessible, inclusive, and responsive to local needs.
