Self-Care Week: 17 – 23 November 2025

Self-Care Week, running from 17 - 23 November 2025 and hosted by the Self-Care Forum, is an opportunity to help people build the skills and confidence to manage their own wellbeing and access the right services.

Research by the Self-Care Forum and Imperial College London’s Self-Care Academic Research Unit (SCARU) shows that people want more control over their health, yet self-care advice is often overlooked during consultations. With demand on services increasing, personalised self-care has never been more important.

For ready-made content, guides, and resources to promote self-care, visit the Self-Care Week homepage.

Cervical screening sample takers audit - requested by Cervical Screening London

Please complete the questionnaire by 1 December 2025, as requested by Cervical Screening London. This is an annual ask and is vital to provide assurance to participants in the London region in the Cervical Screening Programme that samples will be taken to a high standard by trained and competent sample takers.

Please send your completed questionnaire back to hsl.csl.cstd@nhs.net.
New case studies: Inclusive approaches to cervical cancer elimination –

The NHS remains firmly committed to cervical cancer elimination by 2040. As part of this, the national vaccine, screening and primary care teams recently hosted an event focused on increasing uptake and coverage of HPV vaccination and cervical screening, while tackling health inequalities.

We were inspired by the innovative work happening across the country and are pleased to share the following case studies:
  1. engagement with primary care as part of cervical cancer elimination in the south west: Improving awareness and access to HPV vaccination for 16–25 year-olds
  2. inclusive approaches to screening in the north west: Delivering cervical screening through a mobile service to reach underserved communities
  3. toolkits to improve HPV vaccination uptake in the south east: Using tailored toolkits to support local initiatives and drive coverage
If you have examples of good practice you'd like to share, please get in touch at: england.vaccination@nhs.net.
London Ambulance Service's Child Frequent Callers’ programme

The London Ambulance Service (LAS) launched the ‘Child Frequent Callers’ programme on 3 November 2025, designed to identify under-18s who have frequent contacts with their service. The primary function of this process is safeguarding and improving outcomes for children. LAS will share relevant information with GPs, other health and social care professionals involved in the child’s care in addition to any potential risk to the child.

An information poster (PDF) and referral pathway (PDF) have been developed by LAS. To learn more about the referral process or to share any feedback, please contact londamb.childhighintensityuser@nhs.net.
Update on orthotics referrals in Brent, Ealing and Harrow

From 17 November 2025, LNWH will no longer accept direct GP referrals for orthotics via eRS.  Please refer all patients through the local community MSK service:
  • Brent and Harrow: North West London Community MSK (Cora Health)
  • Ealing: Community MSK, West London Community NHS Trust.
This change ensures patients are assessed and triaged to the right pathway. Referral information is available on the LNWH Orthotics webpage.

Please email urgent enquiries to lnwh-tr.orthoticsadmin@nhs.net.
Current remittance advice update

Due to the implementation of the new NHS ledger system (ISFE2), the current remittance advice’s that are being sent out do not include a description of what payments relate to. Please accept our apologies for this issue and be assured that we are working with SBS to rectify this.

In October, the North West London Single Offer and Local Schemes were paid along with the MOES reconciliation payments for 24/25 for those PCNs without appeals, however if you still do not recognise these values then please contact NHS North West London primary care finance so that we can support you in reconciling the payments received.
