๐Ÿงธ Our Rhyme Time and Story Time sessions have restarted this month for pre-school children of all ages and their adults. Everyone welcome!

Street! Citywide Poetry Project

โœ๏ธ๐ŸŽค๐Ÿ“ฑ Send us your poems about your STREET! and we will publish them into an app for your local community to hear! Whether a total beginner or a seasoned poet, we want to hear from you! ๐Ÿ˜Ž

๐Ÿ“๐Ÿซ๐Ÿ”‰ Bristol poet Ralph Hoyte is asking people to submit poems they have written and then recorded themselves, for an innovative, digital audio project with Bristol Libraries. The recorded poems will be uploaded to an app and placed in a 'soundpoolโ€™ right outside your chosen local library (see list below) for all to hear. When people download the app and walk into the soundpool, they will hear YOUR poem read by YOU on the SPOT (triggered by your phoneโ€™s GPS).

โ—Rules and Further Information:

Poems must be on the theme of STREET! and what STREET! means to you and where you live. Itโ€™s your street, your locality โ€“ write a poem about life on and around your street.  Poems must be recorded - they should not be longer than 3-4 minutes when read. Each recording must start with THE TITLE OF THE POEM followed by YOUR NAME (if someone else reads your poem, follow this also with THEIR NAME), then the actual poem. Poems which donโ€™t do this canโ€™t be accepted.

For the first round, deadline for submission is 15th September. Email the recording and written copy to library.ideas@bristol.gov.uk

The project is taking place at the following Bristol libraries: Avonmouth, Bishopston, Bishopsworth, Central, Clifton, Filwood, Fishponds, Henleaze, Junction 3, Southmead, St George, St Pauls.

๐Ÿ“ง Any questions, please email library.ideas@bristol.gov.uk

๐Ÿ’– Looking forward to hearing your work!

Comic Book by the Mental Health Foundation

๐Ÿ“– Bristol Libraries have received a donation of English and Arabic copies of a new comic book written by six refugees and asylum seekers sharing their experiences of the asylum process. They created it in the hope that it could provide advice and inspiration to other people going through a similar experience.
We will have copies at Junction 3, St Pauls and Central Library - please come and take a look if they would be helpful to you or someone you know. Email library.ideas@bristol.gov.uk for more info!
Thank you to the Mental Health Foundation for supporting this project and donating these copies to us.
