September at Amperative

Inside the Amperative studio

Emily is on annual leave, so I am making a special guest appearance in her absence.

September at Amperative has been about birthdays and weddings (including my own birthday). We've had 3 weddings and 3 birthdays to celebrate!

We've also had lots of projects go live and celebrate, so it was a tough decision deciding which one to spotlight.

Here is a glimpse into what's been happening in the Amperative studio this month. Enjoy some sneak peeks at projects, discover what’s been sparking our creativity, and some interesting snippets that caught our attention.

I hope you enjoy it,

Dave

Pete shared the story about starting his own business.

I started the business by accident

Almost 25 years ago, I was in a well-paid job working for British Aerospace with great career prospects but I wasn’t completely settled. Maybe the sensible thing would have been to get on with it and be grateful I could earn a decent living. However, I was soon to have a life-changing experience that cemented things for me and meant my life was to take a different path.

I handed in my notice with no job to go to and found myself volunteering my services to a fledgling organisation who had no money but did have a big vision. They wanted to mobilise a non-stop prayer movement using the internet to link up 24-7 prayer rooms across the world and support people praying for their communities.

It was shortly after this that other organisations started approaching me to help them with their websites and as I had no income, it seemed like a sensible step to do some freelance work. This was the birth of the business now known as Amperative and has slowly but steadily grown to incorporate a team of 24 people as well as other freelancers.

During this time it’s been a privilege to help many organisations with their visions and impactful projects. I’m also honoured to still be on the journey with 24-7 prayer as they celebrate their 25th year of non-stop prayer.

Of course the business has adapted and grown, made mistakes and learned many things. At the root of it all, it was set up to help others and I am proud of the way this has outworked in our supportive team culture as well as the many organisations we continue to journey with.
