Inside the Amperative studio

Have you ever played cricket and thought, “How hard can it be?” Earlier this month, we put that theory to the test at the batting cages during a team social… and it turns out, pretty difficult.

Thankfully, we’re much better at our actual jobs than our cricketing skills, and it’s been another busy month in the studio.

So grab a cuppa and read on to find out more, enjoy some sneak peeks at our projects, and see what else has kept us busy this month.

I hope you enjoy it,
Emily

What we've been enjoying this month

Spotle

The daily music artist guessing game. This is much harder than we initially thought and ended up with 5 people crowded around one screen trying to guess it. Hopefully you are better than we are.

Crosstune

Carrying on the music theme, we've also been enjoying Crosstune, a music crossword. We we're slightly better at this one.

Project Spotlight

Cranmer Hall

This month we launched the new Cranmer Hall website, working closely with the team to refresh the brand and create a website that reflects the character, warmth and quality of Cranmer Hall. We have loved seeing it come to life and getting to share it with you.

We heard from Suzi and one of the biggest mistakes she made in her career...

I was 21, working at my first creative agency as a junior.

I was shaking when... I walked into my boss's office to own up to a printing mistake I had made on a high-profile brand's press invite, which had just cost the company thousands.

‘I just want to say that I’m sorry. It was entirely my fault. I should have checked it. I understand if I need to leave today.’

I waited for him to yell in my face.

Instead, he turned to me and said, ‘No one has come to my desk and apologised before. Your attitude, how you've said sorry, is actually the reason you'll be staying today.’

My boss was shocked that I owned up to my mistake. And you better believe that from that moment on, I never send anything to print without triple-checking it! Now I’m leading this design and development agency, I want every single member of the team to feel like they can come to me with an issue, and without fear of blame or anger if they get something wrong. Because here's the thing:

Amperative on the road

This month...

Dave and Kim took a rather long journey (over 400 miles!) to Bradford for the Wonderful Summit North.

We had a social night where we realised just how bad we were at cricket. Lucy (designer) smashed it out of the park with the highest score of the night (she admittedly shared that she'd played at her son's birthday recently, so had a slight edge).

We were too engrossed to take photos but the wonderful Jo from Culture Stretch came back in to teach us all things DiSC, which was eye-opening.

Playing through the Amperative speakers

This month, we've been enjoying listening to Bonobo
