I'm delighted to share a newsletter filled with celebrations and achievements this month. It's always rewarding to share the hard work and dedication of IMH colleagues, whether in a publication or informing policy as some of our researchers have been.
It's exciting to see the range of opportunities to get involved with research, from taking part in a study, to attending one of our many upcoming events.
Following on from our #Red4Research celebrations, I'd like to congratulate our Research Delivery Team for reaching the Nottinghamshire Healthcare OSCARS shortlist. Well done team!
As we prepare for yet another warm spell, many of us will be looking forward to a summer break. Whether that's at home or on holiday, I hope you can find time to enjoy the sunshine.

On Friday 4th July, we joined our colleagues at Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust for their 22nd annual OSCARS awards ceremony.
The event honours the remarkable achievements of dedicated staff and volunteers working in the Trust.
This year saw over 900 nominations, a record number in the event's history, so it was an exceptional achievement that the Research Delivery Team (based here at the Institute) were shortlisted.
The team were shortlisted for the 2025 Quality Improvement and Research Excellence OSCAR award, in recognition of their dedication to delivering high quality research within the Trust.
Whilst they didn't bring home a trophy this year, we'd like to congratulate them for making it to the shortlist. Well done team!

On June 20th we celebrated the #Red4Research campaign — a movement that honours the remarkable contributions of everyone involved in health and care research. It’s more than just wearing red; it’s about recognising the people who make research happen: our patients, participants, clinicians, researchers, administrators, and volunteers.
Whilst we thank our research teams, participants, and supporters, let’s also look forward — to a future where research is embedded into every aspect of NHS care, where opportunities to participate are available to all, and where we continue to push the boundaries of what’s possible.

Best presentation award for Dr Sue Fen Tan
|
|
|
Academic Clinical Fellow in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Dr Sue Fen Tan, was awarded the best oral presentation at the University of Nottingham’s Clinical Academic Training Programme 2025 showcase. The showcase was an event for all clinical academics to present their research and Sue shared initial findings from their current research project on ‘Prospective Acceptability of Neuromodulation Techniques in Mental Health Conditions’.
The project is currently looking for participants to complete a survey on their knowledge of neuromodulation - open until 31 July.

STADIA trial summary - infographic published

|
Colleagues at our Centre for ADHD and Neurodevelopmental Disorders (CANDAL) recently published findings from the STADIA trial, exploring the effectiveness of a standardised assessment tool in young people with emotional difficulties.
Following their paper, published in the Journal of Child Psychology and Psychiatry, the STADIA team, led by Professor Kapil Sayal, have now released a new infographic summarising the trial and its findings.

MindTech colleagues contribute to ADHD Taskforce report

Professor Chris Hollis and Dr Blandine French have contributed to a report commissioned by NHS England.
The independent ADHD Taskforce was commissioned by NHS England in 2024, as part of a series of measures to address concerns about timely access to diagnosis and support, and the impact of unsupported ADHD on individuals, services and the wider economy.

'Light' by Catherine D'Arcy Saunders
There's still time to view this body of work, exploring the broad concept of Protection and Light. It is born out of a desire to help understand and navigate our lives in a postmodern era of ongoing global unrest and environmental uncertainty. Some of Catherine's paintings are large, abstract and expressionistic. There are underlying motifs within the paintings associated with the surface of skin, materiality from archival lace research and her own personal experiences of ceremony and the spiritual.

Help Us Improve Psychological Care After TIA or Minor Stroke
|

We are inviting clinicians and professionals in the UK who work directly with people who have experienced a Transient Ischaemic Attack (TIA) or minor stroke in the past year to take part in a short online survey.
Your insights will help us understand the current support available for changes in mood and cognition following a TIA or minor stroke and guide improvements in care pathways.
Who can take part?
✅You must be 18 or over
✅You must work in the UK
✅You should have recent experience (within last year) working with people following TIA or minor stroke
The survey should take only a few minutes to complete.
