Welcome to the October issue of the East Bristol Liveable Neighbourhood newsletter.

This is our new-look newsletter that gives you all the news and updates on the East Bristol Liveable Neighbourhood project.

In this issue we have news of when the trial measures will be installed; a video to help prepare ahead for the trial; our search for up to five Bristol based artists to help create on-road artwork with the community; and we also have information about our free travel offers.

Trial measures to be installed

We've announced the programme for the East Bristol Liveable Neighbourhood trial measures to be installed, including planters on streets, pocket parks and bus gates.

The measures will be installed in five phases from 28 October to 10 January:
  • Phase 1 – St George including Wicket Lane, Beaufort Road, Blackswarth Road, Glebe Road and The Avenue – from 28 October to 6 November
  • Phase 2 – Redfield including Avonvale Road, Pilemarsh, Marsh Lane, Barnes Street, Victoria Avenue and Byron Street – from 11 to 29 November
  • Phase 3 – Barton Hill including Kingsmarsh Way and Lincoln Street – from 2 to 9 December
  • Phase 4 – Barton Hill and Redfield including Lancaster Street and Cobden Street – from 10 to 13 December
  • Phase 5 – Barton Hill and Redfield including Grindell Road, Barton Hill Road/Ducie Road and Ducie Road bridge – from 16 December to 10 January
Once the measures have been installed, drivers will still be able to access all roads within the trial area, but most routes for motorised vehicles will change. The measures will make it easier and safer to walk, wheel and cycle throughout the area.

We'll seek views on the trial in 2025.

Calling all Bristol based artists!

We're looking for up to five artists to work with the east Bristol community to create on-street art as part of the upcoming trial scheme.

To find out more about the commission, you can book onto an online session on 22 October.

Expressions of interest need to be in by 1 November.
