Splinting for Adults with Neurological Impairment

A very practical course offering plenty of hands-on opportunities to develop skills in assessing for, choosing, and fabricating splints for adults with neurological impairments, particularly upper limb. Understanding the principles for this intervention underpins the learning.

Course Content:


Understand the principles of splinting with this client group

Review the theories and latest evidence to support splinting for spasticity

Appreciate the properties of thermoplastic materials available on the market

Develop confidence in assessing for splints and in fabricating static splints

Learn techniques to adapt prefabricated splints
