There's only one week left to apply for our Business Decarbonisation Grant.

If you're concerned about your business energy costs, worried about your environmental impact, or want to appeal to new eco-conscious consumers, you could be eligible for up to £10,000 in funding.

Organisations are invited to apply for a grant to support your business with some of the capital costs of lowering your carbon footprint, while saving on bills and gaining new customers!

This grant scheme is competitive, and closes for applications at 3pm on Monday 7 October.

Why should I make my business greener?

As well as helping to combat climate change, there are many benefits to becoming a sustainable business:
  • Energy-efficient equipment, lighting, and insulation reduce energy consumption, leading to significant savings on utility bills.

  • Environmental regulations are becoming stricter. By adopting green practices early, you’ll be better positioned to meet new laws.
  • Reducing waste through recycling, composting, and better resource management can cut costs on materials and disposal.
  • More customers, especially younger generations, are choosing businesses that are environmentally responsible. Customers are more likely to return and recommend businesses that align with their values, especially sustainability.
  • A green business is often seen as progressive, responsible, and community-focused, improving your overall reputation and appeal.
The funding (allocated via the UK Shared Prosperity Fund) is aimed at supporting business decarbonisation while growing the local economy.

Eligible projects include:

Installing...
  • Electric Vehicle chargers for your business
  • smart energy controls, (e.g. Hive or Nest thermostats)
  • renewable energy equipment, such as solar panels or battery storage
Replacing...
  • gas boilers with air or ground source heat pumps
  • petrol or diesel vehicles with eco-friendly alternatives, such as e-bikes or EVs
Or...
  • improving insulation at your premises
  • building living walls, green roofs or rain gardens that sequester carbon
  • purchasing or building equipment that enables reduction of waste

Please note that we cannot fund new gas boilers or newer diesel vehicles, or similar equipment that may continue to have a negative impact on our climate objectives, or that do not support the delivery of the district council’s net-zero emissions targets.
