Business Rates and Investment: Call for Evidence

HM Treasury has launched an important Call for Evidence on Business Rates and Investment to gather detailed evidence from stakeholders on how the current business rates system influences investment decisions.

The Call for Evidence specifically seeks input on:
  • How the existing business rates system affects your company's long-term investment strategies.
  • Concerns raised by some ratepayers regarding the impact of Receipts and Expenditure (R&E) valuation on high-value investment.
The Government is interested in hearing from a wide range of sectors, including all businesses valued on R&E, their agents and tax specialists.

The deadline to submit evidence is 11.55pm on 18 February. Have your say via the Government' website.

Save the date for our next Visitor Economy Connect

Further details and a registration link will be shared in the new year, but for now, put Wednesday 28 January, 10am - 12pm, in your diary.

We look forward to seeing you there and sharing lots more ideas!

Submit your entry by Friday 9 January via the Small Business Britain website.
Abingdon & Witney College awarded funding to deliver affordable Net Zero skills training

Abingdon & Witney College is proud to announce the launch of a major new project that will significantly improve access to green skills training across Oxfordshire.

Supported by funding from the Midlands Net Zero Hub, the College’s Net Zero Skills Hub is now offering key renewable energy and retrofit courses at substantially discounted rates, making vital low carbon training more affordable for local tradespeople, jobseekers and career changers.

This funding forms part of a wider regional effort to support the UK’s transition to Net Zero by increasing the number of people qualified in areas such as renewable energy installation, energy efficiency and low-carbon heating.
